Trabajo presentado por la Dra. Montserrat García González en el Congreso anual de la Acedemia Americana de Oftalmología: Femtosecond-Assisted LASIK With and Without Mitomycin C Performed to Correct Hyperopia: A 15-Month Follow-up
PURPOSE:
To compare the 15-month visual and refractive results of FemtoLASIK with and without mitomycin C (MMC) to correct hyperopia.
METHODS:
152 consecutive eyes were divided in two groups: applying 0.02% MMC for five seconds and without MMC. We compared the refractive results 15 months postoperatively.
RESULTS:
No significant differences were found in the postoperative uncorrected distance visual acuity, corrected distance visual acuity and residual refraction. Retreatment rate was significantly lower in the MMC-group (6.58% versus 10.53%) (P=0.01). CONCLUSION: Hyperopic FemtoLASIK provides good refractive outcomes in a 15-month follow-up. The use of MMC seems to reduce the incidence of retreatments.
